I'll tell ya this, I've been hoping to dislike this damn "Planet Fame", but the fucker keeps growing on me. I'm not so sure what they are like live, but there are many things about it that I would say are going to be right up your alley Markii! It might be a little bit more "modern Glam", ala LA style, then you like, but I have a feeling there will be enough there to win you over. Like I said, I can't comment on the live show, but if it is in league with the album, and some here say it is better, then you will be a happy Maybelline Kid! Quite a bit of Cheap Trick going on at times with them, I have been picking up. The song "More Effeminent Than You", from what I know of you, seems like it will be your type of song.

*fnar, fnar, fnar* LOL!!! I think I get what ya mean, which just further proves that I think you would find them to your liking. But don't expect pure 70's, expect 70's modernized to an 80's hairband mixed with modern styles. Phew, tough to explain, but if an anti-Sunset Strip guy like me can like them, I think that there is a chance you will also.

I frigging love that Planet Fame album and it iz constantly in rotation here. I like Carl'z description though. It iz sorta retro brought into the year 2000...umm...sort of, like Carl said, hard to explain lol!

I have the Fame CD, the star-single, and their DVD. Regarding the CD, I do prefer the live tracks.
Whatever happened to their supposed cover of "Hellraiser"?

Agreed with Andii...
I have two live cds and he sounds the same!
If they are insinuating that it's a different vocalist on CD?...who brought this up?...was it the same person that said Penny Lane didn't play their instruments and what was on the demos was someone else...and the Penny Lane guys were just there for image?...haha I remember that post on here..and I laughed my ass off...After I saw tons of photos from Billy Gash of Penny Lane playing live...and to top that off, my girlfriend lived in New York about that time and went to their shows a few times.

The Hellraiser single was made. I drove from Chicago to London (ONT) last summer to see them and they were selling it there. It's a great cover. I don't know if it was ever sold anywhere besides their shows though. That was the only time I've seen them live and even though it was a very small stage, they blew me away. Definitely one of my favorite bands. It does seem that their live show is more toned down than it used to be though from what I've heard and seen on the DVD.

As Xiola said, Hellraiser has been on sale at the shows as a single, and is supposedly included on the forthcoming 2nd album.
